patseguin Global Moderator Posted February 24, 2012 Global Moderator Share Posted February 24, 2012 I built a WHS box to mostly serve as an NAS for my ripped blu rays and tv shows. File copies were in the 8-9MB/s range with my Apple Time Capsule and I pulled it and installed a Netgear and now I get a pretty steady 110MB/s file copy. Now everything is copied and working fine on the XBMC box in my living room. My bedroom has no ethernet so I am using wifi, which should be able to handle 1080p content. I am getting buffering at the beginning of non-HD TV shows and I can only image how long it would take on an HD movie. Is this maybe a router setting or maybe some setting on the server or XBMC? Jason S. Global Moderator Posted February 24, 2012 Global Moderator Share Posted February 24, 2012 hard to say - you just said "installed a Netgear" but that doesnt mean much to me... also, you havent listed any specs about your xbmc box either. DMHolt57
Check the QOS in the Netgear router, there is a checkbox for multimedia streaming that should be on....says WMM under both 2.4 and 5 Ghz
