The gaming world...

This is a curious topic, what started it all!

Myself thinking back to when I first turned on Super Mario 3 for nintendo, and flew through the levels with a racoon tail, brings back fond memories.

So tell me fellow gamers, recall the joyess moments  What did it for you? What was the game? Moment? Platform? That started it all, fill me in. :p

This should be interesting, the name Dreamcast should not rear its ugly head!

j/k whatever floats your boat.

k, thnx

what started it for me, way back when, my grandpa bought a system that had PONG. Then Atari 2600 came out and we had to have it, along with Intelevision, Coleco etc. I have purchased every system since, except an XBOX and Dreamcast.

what started me on gaming? a game called Snafu for the Mattel IntelliVision. I got hooked on that and started playing other games on it like Burger Time, Night Stalker, Dungeons & Dragons, Shark Shark! etc etc.

snowballed from there

hmmm good question... hard to remember back that far but lets give it a shot... well first off i would have to attribute the good old classic actual arcade to me being a true gaming junky... i was lucky enough to grow up in a big city where there were 3 legitimate arcades (over 20 games) within a two mile radius or so... and then little bodegas with a game or two in them as well... so that was the s**t playing the actual stand up coin versions of the game... the first game i really remember consuming me in the arcade was rygar.. i just had to beat it... but way before that it was of course the atari 2600, but the initial "blockbuster" games held my interest only for so long at the time... then came a game called Venture on it... which that game right there can pretty much be attributed to the beginniing of the end and my addiction to gaming... and i have literally owned every major console to come out since then (even the jaguar at one point...god awful) and now i am mainly just a pc gamer but it all can go back to "true coin op arcades" and Venture....

I remember being on holiday in Devon somewhere, and the hotel we were staying in had a formula 1 arcade machine, which cost 10p a go... i remember bugging my dad for money all afternoon... that was my first gaming experience...

The one that really got me started on gaming though was Chuckie Egg on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum (48k). That game was the business.

heh I started out with a Intellivision as well. My father loved buying the latest gadgets even if he had no interest in gaming :)

I so remember playing one of the baseball games with my brother. It was so easy to steal bases as I would just behind his players when he wasnt paying attention (no restrictions on running down the base lines).

We've come a long way that's for sure.

Atari 2600 with games like Crystal Castles, Q* Bert, Zaxxon etc  I think I've owned every single console since.

Still got it today, I dug it out of the attic a few weeks ago and polished it up, it still works flawlessly!

That old ID Software game, Commander Keen. I saw my cousin playing when I was around 8 and was hooked. Then me and my brother got an Amiga Commandore and had thousands of games to choice from.

Commodore 64 and the Bruce Lee game. Man that ruled. My Dad used to pirate so many games back in those days. There wasn't a good distribution network so it was hard to get them I guess but I was pretty young so I don't remember.

The Family(com) Console(similar to an nes i think), the asians should be familiar with it, it wasn't famous in the west I think. The days of Street Fighter, motocross, flipul, etc, and one of the best games to date - super mario bro's

I had Atari 2600 and Colecovision, and all that jazz, but I didn't really play it much.

The day I got NES, I went to Sears and bought "Tecmo Super Bowl"... I haven't looked back since.

TSB = best sports game ever made.

I remember a few games from atari, some played for countless hours with some friends and to think back then we thought it couldn't get any better lol

If anyone wondered how much the atari 2600 costs, here is a copy of the reciept back in '84 (oops thought it was 85 but this is 84.)
