Math question

Just seen this on my travels and initially it fried my brain (I know the answer now) so thought I'd fry some of yours too

---

A tennis racket and a can of balls (together) costs $110. The tennis racket alone cost $100 more than the can of balls. How much do the can of balls alone cost?

A ) $5

B ) $10

C ) $11

D ) $100

E ) None of these/not sure

The can of balls cost $5 ... The racket costs $100 MORE than the can of balls. $5 + 100 = $105. 105 + 5 = 110.

A tennis racket and a can of balls (together) costs $110. The tennis racket alone cost $100; more than the can of balls. How much do the can of balls alone cost?

Middle school math, just make an equation:

x: racket, y: balls

x+y=110 and y+100=x

Therefore y+100+y=110

Which becomes 2y=10

And finally y=5
