Problems with EMULE

Question

hey people,

ok, my college is blocking the ports that Emule uses...is it possible to change the ports to something else (something that they would already have open) and then still use it? Right now, i am downloading Sh!t at like .5 kb/sec...it's digusting. thanks so much for any help ;) ;)

i'm behind a SMC Barricade router, and i've port forwarded 4662-4672 to my desktop's LAN IP.

here's what came up:

timeout : connection was accepted on ip 128.195.98.111
sent hello but no answer was given !??HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Tue, 07 Oct 2003 21:57:28 GMT Server: Apache/1.3.27 (Unix) mod_gzip/1.3.26.1a mod_throttle/3.1.2 PHP/4.3.1 mod_perl/1.27 mod_ssl/2.8.14 OpenSSL/0.9.6i Connection: close Transfer-Encoding: chunked Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1

Does the page detect the IP of the router? Do you have eMule running?

EDIT: Well scratch the first question because it looks like it got to the router fine but then had problems with the forwarding part. Try going through the FAQ on the eMule-Project site, the section about setting up routers and/or firewalls.

i changed it to port 80 assuming it'd be let through my damn school's firewall...a very slight improvement, but still not much. i guess i'll just have to wait to get home and go back to my cable connection. ;)

Does your school allow any ports? Go to that site that was mentioned up there, and see if any of the ports are open. Try a bunch of common ports like 80, 21-30, etc. If any of them are open, use that.

Also, I suggest you try eMule plus, it adds numerous needed abilities (including more intelligent LowID detection and fixing) to eMule.
