'Gamers' Hangout' passed the 1,000,000 replies mark

Recommended Posts

Looking at the forum index I noticed that the Gamers' Hangout has crossed the 1,000,000 replies threshold. Time for a minor celebration perhaps?

Off-topic post over. Please return to the which-console-is-the-best-no-the-PC-rules-the-gaming-world arguments.

I have a screenshot of it at 1,000,003, and was about to post it in 'Milestones and Achievements', not here.

Anyway. Congratulations, to all of us.

Wow. I didn't even notice that. I rarely check the number of posts for a forum. I guess this calls for a small celebration. :D

What's the post popular thread? Battlefield 3?

I believe the World of Warcraft thread has the most replies. The Battlefield 3 thread should be number two.

Yup. Battlefield 3 is the second biggest thread with 282,252 posts at this time. Bad Company 2 is the third biggest ever thread in the forums, with 225,948 posts. Modern Warfare 2 comes in fourth, with 148.137 posts. It appears the Battlefield community on the Gamers Hangout is pretty dedicated... but the World of Warcraft people are that little bit more dedicated.

It should be noted that the World of Warcraft thread was made in 2004. The Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2 threads were made in 2011 and 2009, respectively. Also, those high numbers are the views.

:omg: Anaron (Y)

No one could've done that

You give me too much credit, Muhammad. All it takes is a bit of time and effort.

Here's to another 1,000,000 replies!

Thanks for putting that list together, Anaron. (Y)

You're welcome. :)

Congrats to us, and it has also gotten a lot better lately, with far less in fighting.

Fighting games suck ;)

Damn, reading through that list that Anaron posted brings back some memories. That "screenshots of you 0wning" in particular reminds me of the days when I was completely obsessed with Counter-Strike: Source. There were some people in that thread who were amazing at CS.

Congrats to the Gamers' Hangout on breaking 1,000,000 replies. Here's to a nice civil journey on our way to the next 1,000,000 (but perhaps not too civil ;)).

Pretty amazing stat.

I have pretty much been a Mod whose primary focus has always been this section of the forums. On and off since I think 05 or 06 now, not even sure to be honest.

I have seen a decent amount of people come and go. I may have even been directly involved for some of those members who went. I do think it would be great if people never left, but the truth is some people just need to move on for their own sanity. I get that and respect it. And some people just feel the need for something else eventually, I also get and respect that.

This area of the site is literally the reason I have stayed an active member on Neowin, and it is directly responsible for some of the best times, and indeed some of the worst times, I have experienced within the community itself.

I will say right now these forums are pretty much without a doubt the most civil this place has ever been. However I also do think there is and always will be room for improvement. Mainly...

If I had one magic wish that could make the Gamers Hangout that would help this section overall, it would be to truly get rid of any member who still insists on continuing or adding to in anyway this whole stupid console war that has been ongoing now forever.

It literally blows my mind that nearly 6+ years after their release, there are still people who feel the need to say the 360 is better than the PS3 and vice versa. It truly dumbfounds me. They are both incredibly competent machines and they both offer great gaming experiences. Both have strengths and both definitely do have some weaknesses. Prefer one console over the other all you want, that is fine and only human nature.

With that said, I really cannot comprehend how or why anyone would still feel the need to say one is definitively better than the other. Especially when realizing the truth of the matter is stating one console is better than the other console is not a fact, and it is indeed nothing other than an opinion. However people still think if they also post sales numbers, or review scores, or other numerous articles that enforce the whole my console is better than your consoles, that sharing such numbers and articles does in fact mean one console is better than the other. They either fail to realize that it just means more people purchased one console over the other. Or even worse, they are very aware of the fact that what they are posting is meant to continue the whole "console wars" itself. I am honestly not sure which is worse. Someone who does believe their opinion is indeed fact, or someone who knows that it is not, but still chooses to post certain articles in order to continue on a mindset in the gaming world that should have never existed in the first place, or indeed died several years ago now.

And FTR, the issue I mention above is not even that big of a deal anymore these days, and in fact it is almost non existent. Although there are a handful of members who are still holding on to the whole mine is better than yours, for the most part it seems as if most people have moved on and/or just grown up. But at the end of the day, it is the above attitude that was no doubt in my mind directly responsible for most of the major issues within this section with members not getting along with each-other and for there being tension, disrespect towards other, just any negative vibe was more often than not associated with the whole fanboy mentality. So I just personally have never been a fan of it in any sense whatsoever. Again though, it is more or less a non issue these days, but would truly be fantastic if it was gone completely and never made an appearance ever again.

Congrats all that made this milestone a reality. That is a pretty major accomplishment IMO.
