to move win 7 to SSD, without install.


Question

hi.

is there a way to copy the current OS, with drivers, apps, users etc'.

from 200GB WD, to new SSD, intel g3 160Gb.

can it be done?

Surely it can be done, just use acronis and clone the drive to the SSD.

NOTE - Doing so will not allow Windows 7 to pick up that it's on a SSD and therefore tune itself for SSD usage. So while it still will be faster you might kill the drive faster as a result. You can manually turn off defragging sure as well as prefetch and other things too but just not a good idea IMO.

no hack or "driver refresh", that will make win7 to adjust itself to the new hardware without causing damage?
