+John Teacake MVC Posted March 19, 2012 MVC Share Posted March 19, 2012 Ok So to combat my crappy BT Broadband Speeds at home I have seen my Three Mobile can get about 5Mbps. I am thinking of getting this plan http://store.three.co.uk/view/product/ql_catalog/threecatdevice/1001?tariff=2281 Ideally I want a router that I can just slot the sim card right into, Does anyone have any experience with this kind of set up? Recomendations would be good.
Roger H. Veteran Posted March 19, 2012 Veteran Share Posted March 19, 2012 I think you'll basically have to get one of those 3G Hotspot things? Do you There are some routers that can take a USB or PC card and use that as a backup internet but I don't think any normal routers take just SIM cards. +John Teacake MVC Posted March 19, 2012 Author MVC Share Posted March 19, 2012 There seems to be a popular few out there but you cant get hold of them or they are really expensive :-(
ajua
I have used a TP-Link TL-MR3420 and it works great. It doesn't have a SIM card slot, however. It has a USB slot and you can use a 3G USB modem that most carriers will give you with a mobile broadband plan. The router works well and is not expensive at all. Glassed Silver
Huawei E5 hands down. My fianc? is in Italy right now for 2 months. I bought her this router and it's awesome. She has iMessage on all day with no roaming costs (her iPhone is netlocked, so she uses an Italian SIM in her E5 router which the iPhone hooks up to). It has AWESOME battery life for the size and price and whenever she gets somewhere where there is an outlet, she uses it (at work or back at home). Afaik ALL E5's are netlock- and simlock-free. You can also charge it over mini USB (and hence, those fancy external travel battery packs work fine, too). It even has a Micro SD slot which you can use for storage for a "mini" NAS. :p (even share it with the whole world afaik) Glassed Silver:mac
