peacemf
I have a router in the loft of the house We have two computers in the garage (which is now a converted home office).. We tried using: TP-Link TL-WA901ND Advanced Wireless N Access Point Netgear Universal WiFi Range Extender The problem is that the Wireless access point is able to pick up the router, but its not able to broadcast the signal strong enough to reach the office. Any solutions you guys can think of? We've tried placing the wifi extender as far as possible from the router, but its just too weak to pass the brick walls me thinks
lars77
The WAP is in the loft, correct? Is it at all possible to run a wire from the loft into the garage/home office? If you can do that, then you can just add a 2nd AP (same name, different channel) & extend the wireless signal that way. Or just add a network switch in the garage/home office & wire everything there. Either way it'll be way more reliable than what you're attempting. Perhaps I'm wrong, but from personal experience I've never used a wifi range extender (or repeater) that didn't suck. It might work if you add more than one to the mix, but at that point I'd rather just run wire ;)
helpifIcan
As above stated repeating is difficult, the best is wired. If the two locations are on the same power panel you could as an option to a wire use power line adapters and connect the AP if needed. The best if more than 1 PC and mobility is not required is to get a switch and cable the PCs.
