Problem after uninstalling a program, please help.

Question

I was helping a friend clean out his PC, in Add/Remove Programs there was a program called ArcadeWeb, which he asked me to uninstall. I uninstalled it through Add/Remove Programs and since then, whenever he reboots the PC he gets the following message after the PC starts up...

"There was a problem starting C:\Program Files(X86)ArcadeWeb\ArcadeWeb32.DLL. The Specified Module Could Not Be Found"

How can he get rid of that message? I'd appreciate the help with this problem...Thanks in advance

After checking startup ...check your registry under the local machine hive /software/Microsoft/windows/run also same place under users hive BUT BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHAT :woot: YOU DELETE or you may be force to reload if you f up the registry. Also check task scheduler for any tasks related good luck

I disabled some things in the startup menu in msconfig and I do not remember seeing that program listed.

I'll have to tell him to check and see if it's there. Thanks for the feedback

If there is nothing in the startup that fixes this, check your services. Could be a service that starts with the PC, unlikely but worth checking if all else fails...

AFAIK Windows doesn't show an error dialog like that for missing startup items. It may be another startup item which tries to load the DLL that's displaying the error message. You can use System Explorer to see what process the error dialog belongs to.

Otherwise, Autoruns is possibly the best program for startup items. It lists far more than most other programs will.
