Setup No-Ip with DD-WRT: Hints?

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have the following setup in DDNS:

DDNS Service: Custom

DYNDNS Server: 8.23.224.120

User name: (my No-Ip username which is my email address)

Password: (my No-ip passowrd)

Host name: (my No-IP hostname)

URL: /nic/update?hostname=(My no-ip hostname) [Tried this just as "/nic/update?hostname=" and it didnt work so I tried to change it]

Additional DDNS Options: --ip_server_name 8.23.224.121:8245 /

Do not use external: ip check Yes

Force Update Interval: 2

And I am current getting in the status:

Mon Mar 26 20:18:26 2012: INADYN: Started 'INADYN Advanced version 1.96-ADV' - dynamic DNS updater.

Mon Mar 26 20:18:26 2012: I:INADYN: IP address for alias '(my NO-Ip host name)' needs update to '(My WAN ip address)'

It stays like that so something must be wrong. Any tips?

Thank you!

i've got no-ip configured with dd-wrt, on the router side, on the ddns, selected no-ip, entered my username and password and the host i wanted, blablabla.no-ip.info.

still on the router side. on nat/qos i opened up port 80,and bound it to my webserver local ip.

changed the webserver's hosts file to contain my no-ip hostname.

and i got it to work, i can access my webserver from outside my network.

no need the extra configuration

Yes but on the DD-WRT configuration, it is suppose to say something like it has been successful with DDNS correct?

just wait sometime and a status ok will come, it takes a while to ddwrt to sync with no-ip.

like i said i did what i posted above and it's working now.i can access my webserver from anywhere.

The no-ip screenshot is old and also dd-wrt says something different.....

first see if you can resolve your name to the right IP address.

that would be a first step.

the next step would be to verify open ports. It should be almost instantaneous. I have dyndns and it is pretty darned fast.

Thank you for helping :)

OK, first off I try pinging the name right now, nothing. I have however gotten a response in the past and when I try to go to it, it redirects me to my router (which is correct). This is trying it on the same LAN. It has never worked outside.

Pointless, but pinging my WAN address works.

  • 4 weeks later...

probably stupid question but what version of ddwrt do you have on the router?

Was told that it might be broken in the build I was using (which has the recommended one for my router) Upgraded to the latest one and now it updates.
