+Warwagon MVC Posted April 6, 2012 MVC Share Posted April 6, 2012 First off, I would recommend not creating 2 topic's and linking them to each other. Having said that, Roboform does use a master password. The master password would have to be entered by the person in possession of your laptop for them to have access to your passwords. They would be able to see the list of sites you have passwords for but they wouldn't be able to access the passwords for those sites, unless of course you have a crappy roboform password like 1234. If you have a hard time remembering passwords, I would recommend the following. Pick a password, hell it could even be in the diction. Let's use the word dictionary for example. Take the word Dictionary then pad it with 5 Astrix's making the overall password longer and harder to guess/crack. Your password would then be dictionary*****. Upon popular belief and what you see in the movies, the cracking software the thief is using does not show him each letter he got right 1 by one all the way to the end. He either guesses the password correct or he doesn't. I would also recommend going into the Roboform options under "security" and put a check mark in the following options. "Auto-Logoff on screensaver start (if you use a screen saver" "Auto-Logoff on StandBy and Hibernation" "Auto-Logoff on User switch or Lock Workstation" This means that if you lock your computer and or the computer goes to sleep or goes into hibernation, when the person in possession of your laptop gets back to the desktop, roboform had automatically logged your account off, so it would then require the use of a password. if those options weren't checked, it's possible that if you signed into your account moments before losing your laptop, that roboform might keep you signed into your roboform account on that computer. You might also want to set to "Auto-Logoff me after this many minutes" to 2 or 3 mins. This insures that after 2 or 3 minutes Roboform automatically logs you out of your roboform account regardless if the computer goes to sleep or not. Roboform will only be as secure as the master password you set for it. Use a "strong" password using alphanumeric characters and symbols.

Thanks. Those are very much helpful. However I'm still not comfortable with roboform security. I understand that roboform has a master password but suppose If somehow this master password is leaked then the thief could access to saved passwords .....right ? is there no secondary level master password for double security ? I wish I could erase all passwords if I loose my device or if its stolen remotely . I plan to use passwords in laptop and in cell phone in sync. How could I ensure highest level security ? Also I have seen that passwords are saved by default in text ....is it not possible to save these passwords encrypted so that its hard to recognize. I would also recommend using Trucrypt and preforming whole drive encryption.
