Lame m4a to mp3 question

Question

I'm attempting to convert my m4a's to mp3 using Lame. However, i believe i'm over looking an option as i simply want mp3 to replace my m4a files. Instead it's creating individual files in the same folder. I've got over 10k tracks so this is going to be tedious if i have to go back and put them into individual folder names with artist/album.

Is there an option that will allow this to either directly replace the m4a's in the nice simple organization i have it in? If not, suggestions?

Thanks in advance ..

-DP.

Have you tried something like DBPoweramp? it's got a batch converter for that.

I also recommend dBpoweramp for batch transcoding.

Are those m4a files lossless? If not, I wouldn't recommend transcoding lossy formats. The quality of the mp3s will be worse than the original m4as.

Using itunes? Select all m4a files using a filter/list of needed, select them all and right click and choose create mp3 version (assuming younger this set up in import options). It covers and keeps all tags, artwork messages etc. then just delete the m4a files in one go, too.
