Frank
I found this program on someone?s computer and they swear by it. I am on High speed, so I would never use it. But I was wondering if anyone else had experiences with it, and how they liked it, and if it was something they would recommend to other dial up users. The webpage address is http://www.proxyconn.com
+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted October 10, 2003 Subscriber² Share Posted October 10, 2003 Hmmm, so it's a proxy... However, many ISPs already connect you via a proxy (transparently). You still can only get dialup speeds to the ISP, and this is where the existing slowdown already occurs. In my opinion you would get very little speed increase, because you may be doing a shorter round trip, but the part that was the problem still exists. Frank
From the looks of their website, I think they may also be using a caching technology like Earthlink and Netzero offer.
+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted October 10, 2003 Subscriber² Share Posted October 10, 2003 Yeah, it does. But look: Home PC ------------------- ISP ------------------------ Web <....................SLOW.........><...................FAST..........> Home PC ------------------- ISP ---- Cache <....................SLOW............><...FASTER.....> The original bottleneck still exists?
