Acrobat restricitions

Question

hi

my son asked a simple thing of me and i am having no luck with the task.

he has a form that he fills out repeatedly and it will not allow him to enter part of the info and come back to it. you fill it out and print it... all is good. sometimes a customer will not have everything so all thie work can not be saved and contiuned at a later time. which is a bummer and why he asked for help.

so i found the password and removed the security restricitions and it can be saved and finished later...EXCEPT if you open it with any abobe reader.

standard and pro the security settings say have at it. if opened in reader it has the orginial restricitions. i tried acrobat reader 7,8,9.

he can not change or add programs to his work computer.

why would reader have a different view of the settings than pro or standard?

On the left you see the same pdf file opened in Acrobat Standard and on the right the exact same file in Reader (7,8,9). His work computer has acrobat reader 9. Anyone understand this? thanks

If I understand correctly, you are trying to edit or change a pdf file in the free "reader" version of Adobe? Adobe Acrobat is the full featured, pay for version, to edit, create, digitally sign pdf documents. Adobe Reader is the free, I can read a pdf only, software. Your basically trying to compare Windows Photo Viewer to Adobe Photoshop.

Reader versions 7 - 9 cannot save PDFs at all. Perhaps those customers using these older versions could consider using a PDF printer to "print" out the filled form as a new PDF?

I think it will work on Adobe Reader X - the only version of Reader that supports Saving as a feature.

no. do you see how differnet the security permissions are being read by the differnet versions? that is the point. i certainly understand the differences in the programs.

one says no security and one shows it has security. its the same frinkin file. can someone explain that behaviour?
