Movie's Anti-Piracy Campaign

Recommended Posts

Okay this is an e-mail I sent www.respectcopyrights.org. I got fed up of having to see this before every fricken movie for the last few months.

This is that ad where the guy talks about working on the set and crap and how piracy won't affect the big guys but it will affect the smaller guys. Well i got sick and tired of it so I wrote them a letter.

I think most of you will agree with it, a lot already do that I've passed it on to.

"You know I have a real problem with your Anti-Piracy Campaign in the movie theaters. It?s not for the fact I agree with piracy, I am behind your campaign 100% but to me and a lot of other people I know, as well as people on the internet, you are sending this message to the wrong people. The only place I?ve seen this commercials with the painter guy is in the movie theater WHERE I PAID $13.50 TO SEE THE MOVIE!!!

If you want to spend your advertisement better maybe have this showing on T.V. Networks instead of in the movie theater where we are in fact paying to see this movie which in fact goes to pay for the painter and set design, etc? Every movie theater I go into I hear someone shout out, well I just paid so and so for this movie, or something to that extent.

Also to help out in the Anti-Piracy it would help if the movie theaters didn?t charge the $13.50 they now do to see a movie. That?s one of your biggest factors against you. The actors want more money for the movie they shoot, and who pays for that? WE DO at the theaters. If the price was not so high to begin with who knows maybe the piracy issue would not be what it is today. That?s pure speculation but it?s only been recently that piracy has been getting as big as it is now, and it?s only been recently that movie prices have gone up.

I hope piracy slows down or stops just as much as you guys would like, but with the factors such as high movie costs, greedy actors, and high speed internet for downloading it almost seems as a lost cause.

I hope you start taking into consideration where you place your Anti-Piracy Ads and reach a better target audience then the ones you?re targeting now.

Good Luck!"

That makes so much sense. It's so annoying to have to be told not to participate in movie piracy when I'm obviously there paying money to see the movie. So annoying. I hope enough people complain that they stop showing these in movie theatres.

I know which commercial you're talking about. At the end there's a message that says "Movies are worth it" or something along those lines. Well, wake up movie studio's! Some movies are NOT WORTH IT! Some are not even worth the bandwith.

Yeah that's 13.50 Canadian, not american. But still that's just the way it is here. You want to see a movie that's what you pay here. Plus we have the most Movie Theaters per Capita in North America. :)

What about the people bring there video recorder in to the movie? They paid.

Its just away for them to reach people, people who go to movies might get upset about paying 13 dollars and start pirating them instead.

i have more or less stopped going to the movies, i will not pay 8.50 to see a movie premier when i can wait 2 months and see it in the 2nd run theater for 3.00...if they wanna stop piracy, they need to cut the prices, plan and simple. i am not justifying piracy, i am just saying....cut the prices and i might go and PAY for a premier instead of any of the other options *cough* ;)

well here in Tennessee they gut your ass out, 7.50 for a ticket, 3.50 for a SMALL coke and a SMALL popcorn.

you go to the movies on a date, you just might as well bend over the ticket booth, let them slap some butter on your arse, and let them rod and ream you really hard.

Heres my philosphy for Software, music, and Movies.

"If you didn't want us to download it, you wouldn't price it where it's out of reach for us."

-quote by me :)

oh well.

I agree the price's are way to high for popcorn and drinks. But that's not the Movie Studio's fault. The cost of conession stuff is the movie theater themselves. So i guess in a way the movie theater is hurting the movie studio's by driving us away at the high prices. I usually just go to 7-11 and bring in a pop or chocolate bar. WAY cheaper that way :)

As for the people who bring in cam corders, at least they paid to see it right ;) LOL

Ugh that's so true about the concession food prices. Here it's like $16 for 2 regular popcorn and 2 regular drinks

SIXTEEN! That's more than the movie ticket! I don't mind paying $13.50 but I can't bring in 'outside' food and that sucks
