Ikaruga

... this game has to be the hardest game I've ever played, and it's reminded me why I love video games.

I just got it for Dreamcast, and started playing it a few hours ago. I still haven't gotten past the first Chapter. I continuously die, no matter what mode I'm in.

Do you guys have any... strategies for this game? I'm completely befuddled by this game's level of challenge. Brr!

You should let the game run, and watch some of the demos that it plays, they should help you.

It takes a while, but you need to get used to the black/white switching, that's key to doing well.

At the beginning, don't try to get chains, just try to beat the chapters, once you do that, then go back to them and gradually work your way up.

Ikaruga is one of my favourite games, but you need to put in time and dedication to even complete it.

Edit: I can still only get to chapter 4's "intro" and I've had it for about 4 months, lol (although I've not been playing it recently)

I have it on gamecube, unfortunately I couldn't get a hold of it for my DC. (I didn't want to pirate it)

I took andrewfee's suggestion and I've become pretty good at this game... I can make it pretty far in Normal mode.

hell yeah.. i remmeber when i first got it about a year ago... now i can get to ch 4 in one credit on hard mode. Then the sh1t hits the fan. ^-^

Dont even try arcade mode. Everything explodes.. and you cant absorb anything... its horrible. But addictive fun.

  • 1 month later...

Omg... sorry to be resurrecting an old thread but I recently "acquired" this for the DC as well and my god... I'm completely in awe of this game.

I didnt' know anything about chains when I first started but once I watched the demo, it all made sense. So far after 2 days of playing I can rack about 2 million before I die but man, I'm utterly hooked.

I gotta pick this one up for the Cube. This is well worth a purchase in my book.
