Microsoft Security Essentials 4.0 final on Windows Update

Recommended Posts

I can't find any announcement or blog post pertaining to it (yet). Nevertheless, Microsoft Security Essentials 4.0 final is available via Windows Update.

It doesn't look like it has changed much UI-wise. Much to my surprise the update from MSE 2.x to 4.0 did not require a reboot.

what does that have to do with what he was asking?

Windows Defender IS mse in Windows 8, installing mse in windows 8 is redundant

Detecton, MSE is already built into Windows 8, and will not install from the link you gave.

Considering the thread is about MSE I misread his post and assumed he was wanting to update MSE on Win 8

How is this on XP these days? I remember it used to be a bit of a hog. Have Avast on my bootcamp partition but I could replace it with this if it's improved.

I think MSE has improved a lot in performance and detection rate... i was using Kasperky before and i have switched to MSE on my windows 7 laptop.

I think I recall from the beta that they actually removed some options. Is that still the case with the final?

What option are you worried about? As I don't use enough to know, but I can see if it is in my 4 install...
