My netbook has only 1 memory slot.

Would a 4 gig RAM stick possibly fit in the same space as the current 2 gig ?

Yes, I ran the Crucial site memory scan thingy:

System is at maximum memory, no memory upgrades are possible. These parts should be used as replacements once the system is outside of its warranty period.

No, I don't believe everything I read.

My netbook gets god-awful slow, so I'd like to speed it up some.

I do have a 4 gig SD card on 'Readyboost' -- not sure if that has any effect, whatsoever.

Thanks for any help.

Please -- no comments about buying a faster laptop ...

put a SSD HD on it (pref a low cost one) then you will have speed bumb you need ;p and as for Readyboost, i have a 2gig but never noticed any speed increase for any programes i run.

and More ram wont help, unless you open high resolution pic's or big file's.

Aha ... the CPU is replaceable ... it is socketed:

Replacing the CPU

1. Insert the CPU into the socket.

IMPORTANT: be sure to align the pins correctly with the marker on the CPU. Failure to do will likely result in

permanent damage to teh CPU.

NOTE: If replacing only the CPU, make sure to follow the instrucitons for cleaning and replacing thermal pads

as described in ?Replacing the Thermal Module? on page 93.

2. Using a flat blade screw driver, rotate the CPU screw 90? counterclockwise to lock the CPU into the

socket.
