kiddingguy
hi, i just reinstalled windows xp. everything works smootly again ;) however, the zip-files are not supported by win xp anymore. i associated winzip files first with winrar and than unchecked the zip-button again. and i would like to have the zip-files be opened by windows than by winrar. can anybody tell me how i can associate the zip-files with the build-in zip-support in win xp home? tia
dreamz Veteran Posted October 12, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 12, 2003 try going to the folder options > file types > then change the recommended program for zip to something like compressed zip files.
yudi_lks
In the explorer, go to folder options > file type, choose the extension you want XP to open using build-in zip support.. Example, highlight ZIP extension then click CHANGE... In the Open With window, choose Compressed (Zipped) Folder.. Press OK.. Now your windows should open it natively.. Muffzilla
I always have Winrar handle zip files. I don't like XP's compressed folders.

kiddingguy
i like winrar better especially to unzip for multiple zip-files at once. for the single units i use the built-in zip utility xp offers
