Bridging AT&T 3800 HGV-B + Linksys E2500 ?

Recommended Posts

Hii everyone,

I am assigned a task to bridge 3800 HGV-B + Linksys E2500 and remotely administer both the router.

These are the basic steps to accomplish it.

1) Connect your linksys router ( 192.168.1.1) and change the IP to other than 192.168.1.xxx ( eg: 192.168.2.1 )

2) reboot the linksys

3) login into linksys interface through 192.168.2.1

4) Disable DHCP

5) In the internet section of linksys router, select static IP in range of 192.168.1.xxx ( other than DHCP pool range of u-verse ) and enter appropriate parameters ( DNS, GW etc)

Then you save the changes and reboot the linksys router,

In u-verse admin interface ( 192.168.1.254), you need to add the your linksys router in DMZ mode.

You also need to check/enable router behind router settings.

NOW LETS START IT FROM START ::::::::::::::::

I read somewhere that you need to connect WAN port of linksys to LAN port of AT&T u-verse for successful bridging. When I use this settings, I am unable to get the Linksys router web interface ( 192.168.1.1)

But when I connect LAN port of linksys to LAN port of AT&T u-verse, I get the web console of linksys ( 192.168.1.1)

I change the router address to 192.168.2.1 and save the settings, the console crashes ( 192.168.1.1 doesn't opens in browser and nor 192.168.2.1) after which I again need to reset the linksys router.

NOTE THAT I AM CONFIGURING IT REMOTELY, WHAT AM I DOING WRONG HERE ?.

How can I configure it such that I can remotely administer both the router and if not possible ONLY LINKSYS router.

Any help will do wonders. Thanks in advance
