patseguin Global Moderator Posted May 2, 2012 Global Moderator Share Posted May 2, 2012 I have a new Neatgear WRN4000 and performance was good at first but now my wireless devices, namely my bedroom XBMC box in my bedroom buffers even SD programs. WiFi should more than enough bandwidth to stream Hi Def without buffering. What settings could be messed up in my router?
hjf288
Someone might have brought a router online on the same channel? Try a channel scan and pick the least used or run on 5GHz :)
remixedcat
There's an app for that! Amped wireless Wifi analytics it will show you the channels that are being used and show you the interference and signal of nearby APs and everything it's awesome. It's funny becuase all the neighbors APs all have a party on channel 6!! LMNASO... I'm the only one on 11 most of the time... only one other AP chooses another channel and that's 3. LOL. patseguin Global Moderator Posted May 4, 2012 Author Global Moderator Share Posted May 4, 2012 I like the idea of that app but it's an Android app, which I don't have. I did change channels on both 2GHz and 5GHz channels with no improvement. I checked the Netgear website for new firmware and the lastest version they have listed is older than what's on my router, which seems odd. Do I downgrade to the latest version on their support site?
