Dot Matrix
Just heard of this search engine called Duck Duck Go, and wondered if anyone here was using it. It looks pretty nice, and its privacy policy is a welcome change. It doesn't track or bubble its users. I'll definitely keep up with it for a while and see what happens. Marshall Veteran Posted May 3, 2012 Veteran Share Posted May 3, 2012 Personally I don't use it. But I do know of their claim to beat Google with new search features, look here... http://idealab.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/03/duckduckgo-taking-on-google-with-new-search-features.php Good luck to them! starbearer
I've used it several times. It doesn't flood your results page with adverts and is clean of privacy issues. Also, it is associated with something called duckduckhack, that is, snippets of a probable result being shown straightaway upon the search. People seem to like the cleanliness etc. Of course, the real question is the search results and whether it is able to generate 'em as good as Google or Bing do. SongHyeonDeok
Yeah I switched to it permanantly, the results are always near enough spot on. If you don't find a result you can always; !g query for Google and !b query for Bing.
tiagosilva29
I replaced Google for Duck Duck Go in GNOME 3.
Wakers
I was using it for a while, however the more specific you get the harder it finds giving you decent results. I've stopped using it for a time at the moment because on half the searches I was doing I had to use Google instead. Their privacy policy is nice and I will definitely still use it from time to time, but it didn't do enough to stay as my default search engine. +Frank B. Subscriber² Posted May 3, 2012 Subscriber² Share Posted May 3, 2012 I've tried it out, but.. old habits die hard. My default search engine is Google (as it has been since 1999). It'd take some seriously major ****-ups from the guys in Mountain View, CA for me to switch.
Jub
I've used it for a few years and have nothing to look back to. It's, in my opinion, the best "search engine" out there. Oh, and I believe it borrows data from Bing and Yahoo - not sure about that though.
Gerowen
I use it and like it, even got some free stickers from the guys who make it, :-)
Yorak
Recently switched to this a few months ago. I love the layout and simplicity of it. As mentioned, you can add !g for a Google Search and !b for a Bing Search if you need to. It automatically uses https for those connections as well. zombieChan
I use to use it all the time. I switched to bing recently for the bing rewards. Though if Bing ever stopped doing the rewards program I'll go right back to DuckDuckGo.
