Help me with this excel problem please!

Question

Hi!

My girlfriend got a homework in excel and she could not solve it. The problem is, that I can't solve it either :D

So here it goes:

We have a table with lots of data. The 2 columns we need is called DBT (diabetes) and TG (triglicerid). DBT has only 1 and 2in it which stands for type 1 or type 2 diabetes. TG has a bunch of triglicerid blood levels.

The problem is the following. We have to use QUARTIL in 5 cells to get kvartil 0,1,2,3,4 of the TG column. But we have to do this for DBT 1 and DBT 2 separately. If I filter the data in excel to get the TG levels of patients who have DBT type 2 and select the filtered TG levels and put it into the QUARTIL, QUARTIL won't ignore the hidden rows.

How can I do this?

Easiest solution is probably to sort your data by DBT and set your QUARTILE formula to just look at the range you need

e.g. A2 to B10 could be just type 1 data, A11 to B20 could be type 2 data
