LilSnoop40
question, i just formatted and updated a friends pc from vista to windows 7. after the upgrade i updated windows via a cable modem with no issues. i then moved the pc to a friends house where he has a DSL connection. he wanted it setup wireless, so i bought this Cisco - Linksys Wireless-N300 Router - Black (E900-4A) and set it up with his DSL modem. after configuring the router i was not able to get online with the pc. i was able to ping the router with no issues but that's it. in the bottom corner by the clock it said unidentified network. i tried resetting both the router and the DSL modem and no luck. next i tried connecting the pc up straight to the DSL modem. after configuring windows 7 to connect this way i would get an error 651 when the internet would dial in for the DSL connection. please help can't figure out why i can't connect. i never had a issue before with setting up any router config before. i have setup about 50-100 if not more of these and never saw this before. please assist, not sure what to do next. i read one post someone said try replacing the "raspppoe.sys" file located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ saying this could of gotten corrupted? how could it connect fine via the cable connection but then won't connect via DSL? thanks
Xahid
I think you need to check the DSL modem configuration setting its its built-in firewall !
LilSnoop40
ok, i assume it has an ip address that would allow me to access it like a router does. thanks
helpifIcan
You need to go to the site of the DSL provider and see what you need to do set up the modem. Some use an IP and some just use a script to access the modem.
