proxy

Recommended Posts

at school we have a specified proxy we have to use to access the internet. is there any way to bypass it? i've tried various methods, but my information is lacking in this field. right now we're using some russian website that lets us go wherever we want.

we use the internet for educational purposes only, so please don't respond with "if it's blocked, you shouldn't be there" or any other remark resembling that. some sites we need to go to have drivers and we can't access them because of the proxy.

any help would be greatly appreciated by myself and my fellow students.

i can supply you with any further information, if needed.

If it is blocked, and you have a legitimate reason to be there, contact your IT department, or a teacher. I am sure they would help you out.

well, the problem with that is it takes at least a week or more to get authorization to unblock it. we have to fill out a form to our school system administrator, she looks over it, and then she has to send it to the head administrator downtown to get permission and so on. it's too much hassle and a waste of time. by the time we get permission and have access, we either don't need it anymore or don't have time.

When I was in school I used to just go to the IT office and tell them I wanted a site unblocked. And then during the last two years I had total admin control over the whole network anyway, (legitimately). Why is it so different in your school?

your school had issues...... especially if they gave a student FULL administrator access. Most schools make you go through a process to unblock webpages so people cannot get "buddy-buddy" with the IT technician, and get access to any website.

yeah. we have to get permission before we install any type of software also. it's kind of ridiculous, but i see the reasoning behind it.
