+John Teacake MVC Posted May 14, 2012 MVC Share Posted May 14, 2012 Hi All, I have just moved from a Server and Storage Roll to more of a Network Engineer Role. I know my way around a network. I have done plenty of Theoretical work and Practical work over my career. However this is the most advanced network I will have worked on and looking forward to getting stuck into the role. What I am asking is for those of you who work in this kind of role, What are your Preferred tools, Your hidden gems maybe, Your advice really.... I have been looking at the Solarwinds stuff. This looks good so far. The Network Engineers Tool Kit. The network guy at the moment who's role I will be taking over said he has as Juniper Management Server set-up but its an old version. He hasn't had much chance to update the software. I am thinking of setting up a new one for myself. I will get a better understanding of how the server works. sc302 Veteran Posted May 15, 2012 Veteran Share Posted May 15, 2012 Don't know what exactly you are looking for. You aren't exactly asking for something specific so gfi server monitor is decent, ip monitor is decent, hyena was ok in it's time, dame ware nt utilities works pretty good, but you probably want a full solution like altiris for entire network management.
