MxxCon
how big is your contact list? if you have many contacts it could open one tcp and one udp for each contact

MxxCon
well, see if total number of open ports is multiple of 31 :) or it's some bug in messenger or upnp when they don't properly unmap those ports
kombolcha
or it's some bug in messenger or upnp when they don't properly unmap those ports ... almost 3 hours fiddling with this and i'm begining to get a headache

kombolcha
 :argh: :argh: .. ok still didn't work but this is what happened.. there were 4 left as you can see and when you double click it shows who is accessing that port.. every single time it shows "vice" (computer name) but for the MSN ones it would show my IP address that i had about an hour ago. i get a diff one every 3 hours.. i don't know what's going on i don't know if that changes with the change of my ip addy or not.. so i changed it to "vice" but still not working. my whole connection seems to be wacked.. my upload is only 1.6kilobytes per sec. right now. John Veteran Posted October 14, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 14, 2003 well, it's not going to hurt if you delete them  the only one you'd need is tcp 6891 for file transfers, the rest should be recreated if they need to be.
kombolcha
i deleted all of them, and saw if it created any and it hasn't yet. been about 10 hours (was asleep) but now it seems to be working fine.. i've been logged on for about 6 minutes with no problems so far and my upload speed is back up.. i still suspect adelphia has something to do with this.

MxxCon
i still suspect adelphia has something to do with this. no they don't. upnp is a service that's used by applications on your local computer. you isp has nothing to do w/ this.
