controlling PC via WAP on cell phone

Recommended Posts

I'm having network problems and I won't even claim to know why this isn't working.

I am running Norton firewall with full permissions given to transferring data to and from winamp and allowing use of the specified prot.

here is a link to the program i'm using...

http://winamp.com/components3/detail.jhtml...ponentId=135612

I have a plugin for WInamp 3 that allows me to remotely contol the software via my WAP browser on my cell phone.

It is supposed to work by connecting to my IP address on the port 9090. so somthing like http://xx.xx.xx.xx:9090

but it keeps coming up saying that the server is busy.

does anyone know what is happening here or know how to resolve this.

Is anyone will to help me out on resolving this?

To connect to your PC via WAP surely costs you money, as its a standard data connection... You actually would wanna "pay" for a fancy remote control! ... Sounds crazy to me, But hey ... Good luck! :D

it has less to do the the actual ability and more to do with just gaining more understanding about what is happening. If you check the link it doesn't say anything about hidden fees or othewr programs. I know i have internet access on my phone. is there another component missing?

I dont know how to help you here, but I do know that is probably the worlds most expensive and useless remote control I have ever seen in my life. Your service provider will end up charging you for your net access and not to mention once signal is sent you get to wait for it to go through the web and back to your PC... and during this time you could have done the same thing with a mouse...

some people don't pay for internet access on their phones, my verizon (lgvx4400) phone, for instance, you can setup through a free gateway rather than use theirs. Then it only costs you minutes, which on most plans are free at night and weekends. So the geek factor can be had for nothing more than the time invested in setting it up...

As far as the OP's actual problem, I have no idea, make sure the port is getting through your firewall, make sure that the port is open on the destination box (portscan, telnet to port)... the 'server busy' message *seems* like an issue with the app though, not a connection problem.
