Buying MP3's

Recommended Posts

Where do you go to buy MP3's online? I'm on winXP. itunes isn't available for windows yet (when?). Napster hasn't reopened yet and Rhapsoday is just confusing and they want me to pay $10 bucks a month membership. I want to just download one song. Legally. Funny thing is I don't know how, where to go. But I know ten different ways to do it illegally.

I dont think there is a legal way without paying. That's the whole idea.

I don't think he (she?) is against paying... nowhere in the post did it say anything about not paying.

I didn't say that. I was saying that the idea is that you are meant to pay for the music one way or another. Either by paying to download it, or by purchasing a CD in the shops. You can't legally download even one song for free.

One track I am presuming that is from an album that hasnt been released as a single?

I say download it illegally, then buy the album when you can.

I think Musicmatch has their own service up. Itunes for Windows is supposed to open up fairly shortly.

In the meantime, depending on what you want to do, you may have protections under Fair Use provision of copyright law for borrowing things from personally-known friends/family, etc.

www.buymusic.com

they sell wma's. not sure if you were specificly asking for a site to buy mp3s and not wma's. although, once you buy the music, you can always re-encode it to mp3 useing some recording software. i used creative media source's record option to re-encode tracks for a cd i bought there, worked fine.

i agree with the whole 'download illegally then buy the album later' thing... nobody looses money, you or the record company (or even the artist, but nobody cares about them  )
