#Michael
I have my asus rt-n66u setup to use opendns instead of comcast dns servers. Until today it has been working fine. Tonight I haven't been able to access 1 site, msnbc.com. Thinking it maybe a problem on their end I gave it a while but it persisted. Tried 2 different computers, an iPad, and an iPhone but none could get to it. When I disconnected the iPhone from the network and switched back to the AT&T network it got to it just fine. So I did a test, I removed the opendns settings from my router and rebooted the modem and router. Now everything can access msnbc and every other site just fine. I have no security within opendns set to block anything so I am not sure why this is happening. Specs for those that want it: Modem: Moto Surfboard SB6120 Router: asus rt-n66u with latest firmware Any ideas?

#Michael
Does this help ? You shouldn't need the desktop app if you use the dns server ip directly in the router. That being said, yes I do use it and it shows the same information as my router. Which when either is configured to use opendns blocks access to msnbc. ENVISIONocity
Precise same problem as OP, with the only difference being that my original (ISP) DNS is through TDS.net and when I reset it to TDS's DNS I can access msnbc.com that way.

Same thing with me...if I reset my dns to comcast I can access it. I am wondering if opendns has flagged it or something. Can anyone else duplicate this? +primortal Subscriber² Posted June 1, 2012 Subscriber² Share Posted June 1, 2012 I'm having the same issue since yesterday afternoon and opened a support ticket with openDNS this morning. There's a thread on their forum with a few people with the same issue, http://forums.opendn...9&page=1#Item_0
+BudMan MVC Posted June 1, 2012 MVC Share Posted June 1, 2012 Seems the problem is more related to this entry http://www.msnbc.msn.com/ This is what www.msnbc.com redirects too I show opendns resolving msnbc.com and www.msnbc.com fine - but when it comes to the www.msnbc.msn.com you got something wrong ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;www.msnbc.msn.com. simplezz
Wow, could that site add anymore ads? What ads? I don't see any :) To the OP: I can access that site fine, and I'm using OpenDNS' dnscrypt-proxy.
+primortal Subscriber² Posted June 1, 2012 Subscriber² Share Posted June 1, 2012 OpenDNS support just notified me that they resolved the issue and msnbc.com is working now for me.
ENVISIONocity
Also going to confirm resolution of the issue here. This from OpenDNS Support: We've identified an issue one of MSNBC's content providers was having. However, they have since resolved the problem, and www.msnbc.msn.com should now be accessible using our service. We recommend that you clear your DNS resolver and web browser caches in the meantime, using these instructions: http://www.opendns.com/support/article/67. #Michael
Sweet...at least it wasn't just me. And yes, I can now access it. @Budman...you continue to amaze me with the amount of info that I can learn from you when it comes to simple things like this. Thanks! Brian_Adkins
Why to use opendns? Try DNS from google, ip: 8.8.8.8. It works brilliant from all locations.
