Damn Lite Features...

Recommended Posts

Hi all... Two things:

1) Is there any way to use multiple sessions in Terminal Services in XP Pro? What I mean is, can I be logged in from work, and someone else using the machine at home? As it stands right now, it boots the other person off whenever someone else trys to log in. Basically, my question is, can I set Remote Access up like it is in Win2000 Server, if so how?

2) Another 'lite' product, IIS in XP Pro only allows ONE site set up on the machine. This is pretty crappy if one wants to run a half-a$$ed site. Anyone know how to add more sites? Failing that, is there any way to install a non lite version of IIS?

Any help at all, even telling me it can't be done and I've wasted my life trying would be appreciated. :p

Thanks

Hmm... I can't really answer your question concerning Terminal Services, although I believe that it is limited to one user/connection/session.

Concerning IIS on XP Pro, you are pretty much stuck with only being able to host one site. I'm not sure that keeps you from running a "half a$$ed" site or not, but what will is that IIS on XP Pro only allows for 5 concurrent connections (it may be 10, but I'm unsure). These limited connections are not just pure html/http connections, as any other type of connection to IIS will count towards the limit.

The only other suggestion I can put out for you is to not use the built-in Terminal Services and IIS in XP, and instead use an alternative. I haven't used any other TS programs so I can't recommend anything there, however on the web server you could always use Apache :disappoin ... not that I'm all that fond of it, but it works.
