My gosh people, a laptop generates enough heat on your lap with your average khaki pants! I hope you're all using some form of "protection"! :ninja:

When our house was being built, the wife and i decided to wire each room with cat5, so now all 6 bedrooms have a jack, the family room has 2, the garage has 4, and that all goes to a rack in a closet in the garage with a switch and the dsl modem. However, now the wife has started talking about wireless, but ill be damned if all that cat 5 is going to waste

There are so many things you can use all those CAT5 points for...TiVo, servers, a few WAPs in key areas...

How fortunate you installed CAT5 in the house while it was being built.I wouldn't want to use Wi-Fi after all that! :D

I want to buy a cheap laptop (old iBook or a 999 tablet PC i think I saw) for web surfing and stuff but im just a kid with a paperboy job and $200 a week going like magic.:/

You make $200 a week?

That's it, I'm going to be a paperboy. Screw these part-time jobs!

Ya just about, 70 or so customers in a nice neighborhood, after paying the newspaper the bill i keep the $200 or so. Not bad for a job that only takes around an hour or two every morning at the cost of losing sleep.

The bulk of my posting is done from my laptop in bed either early morning or late at night. I agree broardband in bed rocks. Only prob is that all 4 ports on my router are taken up, so I have to steal the cable from my laptop to use XBOX Live.

  • 1 month later...
we don't have wired-in cable or grounded outlets...our house was built in 1955...you know, before electricity ;) :o

She ain't kidding you know. She's got a donkey outside running a treadmill. I bet it saves on the power bills though. :p

now that's living...

I never use my wireless...I just don't like using the touchpad on the laptop, can't stand it. So I just keep my laptop docked all the time...
