Friend introduced this gem to me recently:

Really great free program. I think it puts Windows search in the shade.

Used Copernic before, but it was too bloated for my needs.

Been using it for a while, it's brilliant.

Just out of curiousity what does this do that Windows doesn't?

It's instant, and sometimes Windows search doesn't always find a file when infact it does exist. Can't be doing with inconsistencies like that :)

Can you provide an example that we can try reproducing?

I've been using this for over 3 years now. I think it's great . Windows Search builds up a very complex index of the filesystem. Including file contents . This can only search by file names but that'gets the job done for me. It's light and *very* fast. Infact I think Microsoft should include something like it by default to search by file names only The extra overhead of indexing tags and content isn't worth it sometimes .

Definitely.

If I want to search within a file, I use Windows search.

I rarely need to do this. Ninety nine percent of the time, I just need to quickly locate a particular file.

For that purpose, this program is almost instantaneous.
