UK's Nick Pope releases tentative alien war plan to launch Resistance

On June 26, 2012, Nick Pope, UFO expert and former investigator for the UK Ministry of Defense and the UFO Project, released his version of a war plan for alien defense. Nick Pope is a frequent guest on Coast to Coast AM and he kindly released this information to this reporter today as a follow up to a previous article here at Examiner.com: ?Nick Pope warns UK to prepare for UFO activity during 2012 Olympics?.

Pope's war plan was generated in response to a request from Nihilistic Software and Sony Computer Entertainment, the folks behind the new FPS game, ?Resistance: Burning Skies,? who asked Pope to speculate on what might happen if, and when, an actual alien invasion occurs.

In his opening, Pope addresses the need for an alien war plan:

?As part of the wider government review of disaster preparedness, the Ministry of Defense has been examining the full range of plans covering scenarios where we would be lead Department, or a key contributor to a wider HMG response. In line with the Cabinet Office instruction to identify and plan for risks not covered by existing plans (e.g. comet/asteroid strikes, or the fall to earth of a defunct satellite) we have looked at a number of ?low probability/high impact? events and drawn up some new contingency plans to cover these risks. As you know, one of these is the possibility of an alien invasion. We discussed this last month and you indicated that in view of the extreme sensitivities and the need to ensure that our plans are consistent with US policy, you would wish to discuss this with the US President and approve the final document personally.?

Mr. Pope goes on to state that the war plan was prepared by a group of individuals, including the Chief of the Defense Staff, three single-Service Chiefs, the Chief of Defense Intelligence and the Chief Scientific Adviser, along with the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Pope then gives a bit of background information on the history of UFO research in the UK, noting that the ?terms of reference were to investigate sightings and assess whether there was any evidence of a potential threat to the UK, or anything of more general defense interest.?

According to Pope, most UFO sightings since 1947 have been wrongly identified, hoaxes, or can be attributed to mental illness or hallucinations. However, at least 5 percent of reported sightings have no conventional explanation, such as the Rendlesham Forest incident in December 1980. Nevertheless, states Pope, the recommendation to the public and the media has always been that UFOs pose no significant defense threat.

In his war plan, Pope speculates that

we must operate under the assumption that if the aliens are intelligent enough to find us, then they must also be our technological superiors.

?It would be inconceivable that a civilization capable of viable interstellar travel did not possess the knowledge to build and the capability to deliver nuclear, chemical or biological weapons ? or something more destructive. Simply stated, there is no doubt that an extraterrestrial civilization capable of reaching Earth would possess weapons of mass destruction. An alien invasion would constitute an existential threat having the potential to destroy or serious degrade civilization and perhaps life itself. It would be orders of magnitude beyond any previous threat faced by the human race. In the face of an alien invasion, nations would doubtless set aside their differences and unite against the common foe.?

The war plan calls for a graduated campaign, covering three theaters of operation. The first, of course, would be space. Pope stresses that ?The Secret Space Program is a term that covers a range of militarized space shuttles and similar vehicles, satellite-based weapons, and ground-based directed energy weapons. This force package involves the capability to deploy nuclear weapons. A first-strike nuclear attack against the extraterrestrial craft may be our best hope for victory.?

The other areas of defense would be air and ground, calling into play everything the US and UK have to offer ? Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, Type 45 destroyers, Sea Viper missiles, SAMs, and Special Forces units.

Pope also warns that the scientific community would have a key role to play in the event of an alien invasion, noting that they may be needed to find the alien's Achilles' heel.

Regarding the public response, Pope feels there's no need to worry about a widespread panic. Thanks to movies, TV shows and various books, more than 50% of the public already believes that UFOs are extraterrestrial in origin.

?The limited number of psychological studies undertaken on this issue suggests that if the government announces the imminent arrival of extraterrestrials (as it will have to do pre-emptively, to better control the news agenda), societal panic or collapse is unlikely. Essentially, you do not shock people by telling them something that they already believe.?

Pope also addresses the issue of computer games also playing a key role in introducing people to the realities of an alien invasion.

?Computer games have also played a key part in acclimatising people to the reality of extraterrestrial life

? and in particular, the idea that aliens might be hostile. The Sony PlayStation first person shooter franchise Resistance illustrates this point and the latest version - Resistance: Burning Skies ? is a particularly good example. Given the popularity of such games with young people likely to form the basis of resistance should our military be defeated, it is interesting to speculate whether classified information about weapons and tactics that may be useful in fighting an alien occupation could be embedded into the gameplay.?

While Pope's war plan was created for the purpose of promoting the launch of a computer game, it's interesting to see just how detailed it is. The code name for the plan is Resistance: Burning Skies and it's ?classified? as Top Secret.

If Aliens are coming to earth they don't need our resources... It's simple logic.

Exactly, you can find pretty much any other resource on other planets, moons and asteroids/comets without the hassle of humans getting in the way.

Wouldn't it be funny if it turned out that there was really no way (within the confines of physics) to create a spaceship that could withstand the power of a nuke hitting it and at the same time, make it travel at/faster than the speed of light. They'd observe us for a week and think "**** that, we're coming back when they chill the **** out!"

What makes you think they want our 'resources' ?

Most are here simply to observe, and some try to influence us to advance, spiritually, and techno-wise.
