McCordRm
Ok, so I purchased a 4G router and have it hooked up. I can connect to it wirelessly and connect to the internet through it. I have enabled Allow Remote Access in the settings on it.. but what do I type in the address bar to reach it remotely? Obviously, I'm missing something here. heh
M_Lyons10
Well, is it a VPN router? What connection type does it use? Windows has a built in means to connect to a VPN network remotely, but you'd have to start with what you have and go from there.
McCordRm
It's a 4G router... so, cell phone connection to the internet.
+BudMan MVC Posted July 10, 2012 MVC Share Posted July 10, 2012 If you want to remote admin it, then you would put in the public IP that is on the wan interface of that router and whatever port your remote admin runs on. Some are default to 80, but others might be say 8088 or something So look on the router for its wan(internet) IP and what port it is set to use for remote admin. Then when at your house just use your browser http://24.13.1.2 for example if that is your public IP or http://24.13.1.2:8088 if that is the port its running on. Question - do you want to actually access the router or do you want to access connected to the inside of the router?
sc302 Veteran Posted July 11, 2012 Veteran Share Posted July 11, 2012 so you have your ports forwarded through your router...have you even thought of the remote possiblity that the address you connect to is going to change every few days? you do not have a static ip address with your air card so you are going to either have to sign up for a service like dyndns or no ip to be able to mask the ip with a friendly name or use some sort of 3rd party remote utility to gain access.. It would be much better/easier to use logmein or teamviewer....so much less configuring involved.
