Crisp
I understand neither have an advantage over the other, just as long as both ends are wired the same. For wiring a CAT6 patch panel at home, which standard is more common? I read somewhere that Australia prefer to use A over B. What does the common stranded patch cable use? sc302 Veteran Posted July 11, 2012 Veteran Share Posted July 11, 2012 B is US standard. doesn't matter so long as both ends are either wired with a or b standard. it really doesn't matter as long as 1+2 are on one pair, 3+6 are on one pair, 4+5 are on one pair, and 7+8 are on the final pair. change the color as you wish, but those pairs need to stay together within the cable to get your speed. you can have blue on 1+2, brown on 3+6, green on 4+5, and orange on 7+8....it wouldn't be standard but would work just fine. farmeunit
I use B, myself. As long as you stay consistent with your ends. Just make them the same, as sc302 mentioned.
