Fantastic Four Director Confirmed While Daredevil Director Exits

While Twentieth Century Fox doesn't have a big presence at the San Diego Comic-Con this year, Deadline reports that there is still news about three of their comic properties.

The site says that, as was previously rumored, Chronicle director Josh Trank is now officially set to direct the Fantastic Four reboot at the studio. They add that production would start on the film after The Wolverine and the untitled X-Men: First Class sequel wrap.

We had also heard rumors that director David Slade had dropped out of directing the new Daredevil movie and that appears to be confirmed now. "The studio has a script it likes, but has to get the film into production by fall or risk losing the property back to Marvel Studios and Disney," says the site. Slade couldn't make the timing work because he's directing the "Hannibal" series pilot for NBC.

This kind of crap just reaffirms my consistent belief that Hollywood has simply lost any ability to create new content, and now it's just going to be "reboot" after "reboot" after... well, you get the general idea.

Think I'm wrong?

Hrmmm... what's coming up soon... "Total Recall" for one, and several other "reboots" as well later this summer.

It's a sad thing to realize they can't come up with anything fresh and new and expect these remakes to be of any substance. Sure, they'll make money, but that's simply because consumers are stupid - the truth hurts, but it's just the truth.

Best movie I've seen in a long time that can illustrate just this exact point? "Idiocracy," which is exactly what this world is going to become someday...

I love the Fantastic Four and have been for years but the first two movies was a huge disappointment. I hope a reboot will be better.
