Trance Music

Recommended Posts

Hey people, me and my buddies are creating huge databases of trance because we plan on organizing our own mini techno-trance party sometime soon.

I personnaly started listening to trance after going to one of the Skazi parties and i ended up seeing Infected Mushroom and lots of other Israeli trance artists. For once that israel is at the top for something useful... anyway... What do you guys recommend as trance? I got a lot of Astral Projection, the UNREMOVABLE Popcorn remixes, Aquagen, Skazi, Infected Mushroom, Love parade stuff, and techno remixes in general...

Thx in advance!

Ritalin

Yeah.. Paul Van Dyk stuff is pretty awesome. Just been listening through his 'Vorsprung Dyk Technik' 3 CD today.

Other good stuff... Agnelli & Nelson, Chicane, BT.. just some personal favourites :)

check the stuff by Seb Fontaine, eg his global underground prototype series.

i see you mention a lot of psy trance, so here you go:

check out some of the old "eat static" stuff. Abduction, implant and Science of the Gods.

definitly listen to Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger

http://di.fm has great stuff streaming all the time. You can rip the stream to MP3. If you want just artist names:

ATB, BT, Da Rude (Come on, got to have Sandstorm!), Daft Punk, Kevin Roen, DJ Kaycee, DJ Encore, Kate Ryan, Orbital, Serina Paris, and Zymotix.

Those are off my playlist, so don't yell at me. It's personal preference.

Your tastes are a little too "euro" for me. :) I'll give you some suggestions but be aware of the fact that I no longer buy vinyl like I used to so my knowledge of trance artists reaches only to about the middle of 2002. I stick to live club mixes nowadays...

Airwave/LV - eg. Innerspace and Above the sky

Anything Push: Most notably Universal Nation

Armin Van Buuren - eg. Exhale and Eternity

Tiesto - Silence

Adam Dived - Deep Inside

James Holden - Into the Dawn

Matt Darey - Not Over Yet/Bailamos

Sasha - Belfunk

Marco V - a couple of tracks that I'm forgetting the name to at the moment

Yves De'Ruyter (sp?) - Feel Free. Rmxs were also great, especially Push's

Old Aquaplex tracks like Peace and Love

Old Transa tracks like "Sunflower"

Some other notable singles that I loved:

Chris Raven - I Know You Loved me Too (Van Bellen mix)

Earthbound - Essence of Life

Olive - Not Alone

Brainbug - Rain (Johnny Vicious mix)

Lustral - Everytime

Art of Trance - Madgascar (F. Corsten rmx)

Adagio for Strings (F. Corsten rmx)

Thats good enough for now.

You can check out my records list here (it's for sale ;) )...

If you search for most of the progressive/trance, you will not be disappointed :)

how about none of those, ok?

regular trance is the worst music ever created. every song has the same speed to the bpm and whats essentially the same beat. the melodies are too cheesy to take seriously at all. it seems like trance just tries to outdo itself every week/month/whatever until it reaches the big huge mess it is. trance isnt music. it tries too hard to convey a totally fake sense of emotion, and in my eyes, fails miserably. please, nobody likes drawn out three minute breakdowns. BORING. its become so trite and derivative that you KNOW whats going to come up next. is there even really a point to it anymore? its just watered down schlock for the masses; it cannot compete with the raw soul of house, the intelligent intricancies of drum 'n bass, or the soulful banging of actual techno. it especially cannot compete with the sheer trippiness of...

psytrance. now THATS what trance is supposed to represent. acidic. mind****ing. trippy. psychedelic. no cheese melodies. no boring ass breakdowns. no predictability. its complexity rivals drum 'n bass and many actual techno songs. try these artists: 1200 mics, alien project, astrix, bushman, etnica, exaile, gms, n3xu5 (yes its really spelt like that), psysex, space tribe, talamasca, xenomorph
