ug_rulz_all
Goa-Psy and Psy are the same thing, right? I'm just looking on DI, and all I see for Psy is Goa-Psy. goa has a more organic sound, psy has a more futuristic sound aside from that they are identical (and far better than regular trance)
johngalt
Of course, that is personal preference. Some of us like 3 minute build ups, and the really good DJs are the ones that keep you guessing where they are going to go next - you *expect* it to go in one direction, and it takes a subtle yet very definitive twist into a totally new dimension of sound. ug_rulz_all
the really really good djs just skip trance altogether and play real music such as techno, house, psytrance and drum 'n bass the record gods (dj is not sufficient) create music out of vinyl scratches (turntablism)
AdamKnowles
LOL, you just called drum and bass real music. hahahahaha.
AndyD
how about none of those, ok?regular trance is the worst music ever created. every song has the same speed to the bpm and whats essentially the same beat. the melodies are too cheesy to take seriously at all. it seems like trance just tries to outdo itself every week/month/whatever until it reaches the big huge mess it is. trance isnt music. it tries too hard to convey a totally fake sense of emotion, and in my eyes, fails miserably. please, nobody likes drawn out three minute breakdowns. BORING. its become so trite and derivative that you KNOW whats going to come up next. is there even really a point to it anymore? its just watered down schlock for the masses; it cannot compete with the raw soul of house, the intelligent intricancies of drum 'n bass, or the soulful banging of actual techno. it especially cannot compete with the sheer trippiness of... psytrance. now THATS what trance is supposed to represent. acidic. mind****ing. trippy. psychedelic. no cheese melodies. no boring ass breakdowns. no predictability. its complexity rivals drum 'n bass and many actual techno songs. try these artists: 1200 mics, alien project, astrix, bushman, etnica, exaile, gms, n3xu5 (yes its really spelt like that), psysex, space tribe, talamasca, xenomorph Funny I hear the same arguments about Techno, which i like, and yet you feel differently about it. ug_rulz_all
LOL, you just called drum and bass real music. hahahahaha. why yes i did ;) stakka and skynet is a great place to start and techno is way different from trance - get one of the songs from my list and compare it to a trance song - they have very distinct, seperate sounds which explains why, despite similar arguments, i like techno a lot better if you like techno ill be happy to link you to a site with 100 mixes - im at school now and i dont have the link though but just give me like 3 hours
AdamKnowles
It's ok, i have a big enough CD collection to keep me happy and the rest of the population of the town. Just a personal opinion, i mean i don't think you listen to much trance/dance music if you think most of it sounds the same. I will agree that all the mainstream stuff that thinks it is trance/dance is all the same and quite frankly crap for example DJ Sammy.
