Each tab spawns a new session for itself. The way they isolate tabs is by giving them their own run of chrome.exe, so when one crashes, it usually doesn't crash Chrome. Other threads out there are supporting Chrome's session. It's a memory hog.

After half anhour facebook bloats to 800mb ram!!

Not sure what that has to do with chrome.

Each chrome extension uses a different process. Disable some extensions and you'll see less processes

No i meant the facebook tab not the app

Just a reg.tab like any other site only most bloated ..

It has everything to do with it, Think about the size of images + the amount of images on a typical Facebook page alone,Add in a bunch of code to that webpage , you'll see its usage soar quick quick. The more content on a webpage the more resources chrome needs to handle it all.

Yeah, but is that chromes fault? Wouldn't that happen with all browsers if you left the tab open?

I dont go to my task manager unless the PC slows down... if it runs in different process let it run and I really don't care..

Also, the process separation makes chrome more secure and crashes wont bring down the whole browser...

remember the olden days with browser crash?? I use to get annoyed.

no dice. I tried that but still nothing doing. I think this is right that each tab runs as it's own process

It's not that big a deal, I run 5 extensions and a couple of tabs and I have 10 chrome entries

It's not really chromes fault its more or less clutter of webpages these days. Overtime I have observed that the memory increase only happens during continual usage. If you keep a page up then the memory stays about the same.

I would just like to point out that on modern operating systems (anything after XP), applications will only make use of resources that the OS allows them to - so if you didn't have the resources available and not being otherwise used - then it wouldn't use that much.

When I stopped some of my extensions, the processes were less. But still with only 1 extension and 1 tab, I have 5 processes running - using a total of 167124K, with just neowin open.
