Mallrats

It depends. Some people like it the most others think it's the weakest.

If you liked Jay and Silent Bob strike back then chances are you'll love Mallrats. If you though JASBSB was stupid and immature then you'll probably find Mallrates pretty childish as well.

Mallrats has alot of really good dialog but Jay and Silent Bob are so fake in that one. In Clerks, Chasing Amy, and Dogma they're more akin to normal people, but they're funny. In Mallrats and JASBSB they're more cartoonish.

i think the reason i like mallrats the best out of all of them (and J&SB strike back second) is because of Brody. He's absolutely hilarious in Mallrats. a classic. got the dvd at home :)

/edit what macodin says above is true. mallrats is more immature humour than the 3 he mentioned. (it just appeals to my sense of humour. i'm definately the kind that laughs at fart jokes lol) for example, i like dogma 3rd and dont even like the other 2.

Thing is this: I think each of his films fits into a slightly different genre. Mallrats is definately the "Teen Comedy". It is my FAVOURITE film ever!!!!

I've only seen Clerks, Chasing Amy, JSBSB, and Dogma and loved them all. JSBSB is probably my favorite with the others REAL close behind it. Thanks!!!!!

I love immature humor LOL

Yeah you'll definately like it then as I think Mallrats is way better than JASBSB dialog wise.

Spyder - What's up with Jason Lee rocking in every Kevin Smith movie and sucking in everything else? It's like working with any other director just sucks the charisma out of him. His non Kevin Smith movies are as bad as Chow Yun Fat's american movies.

I guess it shows how important a director is to a film.

Well this will be perfect for ya then.

Lets put it this way, on my 21st birthday (long ago...) I had 10 mates over for a childish style sleepover. We watched this, and everyone loved it. I really can find no faults with this film if you wants a silly but cool film!

amen to that. I have no idea why. he's an underrated actor imo. I seem to recall seeing or reading an interview with Jason where he said that Kevin just lets him be himself.. improvise, have fun, spontaneity.. so yeah, I think you're spot on about the director comment. Jason Lee and Kevin Smith = PB&J

i didn't like jasbsb at all..it was ok, but it just felt like they were 'forced' to come up with a 'jay and silent bob' movie to satisfy the 'commercial crowd'...the new jersey trilogy is the best, each of them equally phenomenal, but if i had to put them in order it would be clerks, chasing amy, mallrats....dogma was pretty good too, but i think jasbsb just wasn't in the same league as the rest...hopefully 'jersey girl' will be good...lookin forward to that

IMHO, Clerks and Mallrats are the best of Smith's films... Chasing Amy and Dogma were pretty good too, but just not in the same league as Clerks & Mallrats. J&SBSB was the weakest of them all for me, because the humour was just that little bit too slapstick.

But Mallrats is definitely one of my favorite films (Y)

I haven't seen Jason Lee's other movies but he's funny as hell the KS movies. I think it's kinda the same with Ben Affleck. He was cool in Good Will Hunting, eh in anything else I've seen him in, and great in Chasing Amy, Dogma, and what parts of JSBSB he was in. He'd be fabulous if he stuck to Kevin Smith movies.

I've seen Jay and silent bob strike back, clerks, mallrats, and dogma and I think mallrats was my fav. I didn't really care for clerks...I didn't like the fact that it was black and white...

you need to watch them in the proper order to get them, first clerks, then mallrats, then chasing amy then jasbsb. then you get all the jokes.

Kevin Smith as a rule has awesome movies. Jersey girl will be wierd because he is going to be moving away from the old stuff. I hope it is good but I have a feeling I won't be enjoying it.
