SSX3

That sucks never noticed on ssx tricky I always thought there was tons of tricks. They should have put "reset" as a start button option then it would have freed up a button. I hate the reset button, some times I am pulling massive air and dope stunts and BAM! I hit the button on accident.

Oh well it kicks ass either way.

Guess I have to pick this up tomorrow...I lost the winter of 2001 to Tricky, so there's no question about it :D

haha, yeah you will definitely like this game. The trick are much much better too.

just out of curiousity, in tricky, which control scheme did you guys use? which would you recommend? is it the same way in 3?

The controls are the same. I just use the default scheme. It's what I'm used to.

GC takes a minor hit due to it having one less button its controller.

one less!?

GC Buttons = 7

PS2 Buttons = 10

knobs don't count as buttons in SSX, at least not in default config.

Well IGN have put up a Head-to-Head.

Final Verdict

Without a doubt, SSX 3 is a fine purchase or rent on any of the consoles. EA Canada did a superb job of creating a multiplatform snowboarding game. However, there are minor feature and technical differences to contend with.

There is a clear winner, though. The PlayStation 2 looks great, has awesome sound, the controls were designed for it, and it features online multiplayer. There's no question the PlayStation 2 is your best bet.

However, if you're a nit-picker when it comes to visuals, Xbox is the better buy because it does look better than the PS2, marginally better than GCN, and the controls are functional.

GameCube we don't recommend because of the less available tricks. This slightly spoils the combo system and your ability to diversify tricks. Is it still a great title? Absolutely, with some fine visuals, but not quite as great as the PS2 or Xbox.

Overall Winner:PlayStation 2

Winner Ranking:

1. PlayStation 2

2. Xbox

3. GameCube

- Best version for single player: PS2/Xbox (tie)

- Best version for multiplayer: PlayStation 2 (online; minor advantage)

- Best version for videophiles: Xbox (minor advantage)

- Best version for audiophiles: Xbox (PS2, close runner-up)

- Best value/price: GCN/PS2/Xbox (tie)

Just read the Head-to-Head over at IGN, guess I'll have to hook my Xbox back up (I haven't been playing many console games lately, I'm going to spend about a week away from PC games so I can get caught back up)

ok one i keep doing really bad on is the freestyle Crow's Nest (i think thats it) on peak 1. its super short and theres only 2 really big jumps. i can't for the life of me get a silver, let alone a gold. have you done that one? any tips?

i got the silver yeah.....before the first official jump, there are two small bumps where u can get a back flip off on. Make sure you do it. It fills your adrenaline bar half way up so for the first real big jump you have uber tricks available

ahh cool gonna try that when i get home. thx bangbang! :) the other thing i was thinking of trying was starting at the top of the mountain in a freeride, and build up my adrenaline and make my way to the starting gate for crow's nest so i can bust full ubers right away. yours sounds less time consuming :)
