TheLegendOfMart
I will be moving house next month and Sky says it could take up to a month to get my internet back on, so I'm looking for either a pre-paid dongle, or buy them seperate. I realise that the days of 'unlimited' internet are gone or on their way out but I don't want to have to keep topping up every few days. Are there any good pre-packaged dongle/sims or would it be worth getting the sim seperate and buying a seperate dongle? Are there any ways of conserving bandwidth using Firefox? I looked at giffgaff but you can't tether or use dongles with the goodybags that have unlimited internet, you can only do that with the gigabags which have capped 500mb / 1gb / 3gb packages. drazgoosh
Well GiffGaff say you can't use normal sim cards for tethering/dongles but they work anyway.
Crisp
When the UK gets 4G I hope they do an unlimited plan as the speeds would be faster than a line in the home, you would use all your bandwidth within a few days :/
Detection
There is that free 3G I posted the other day where you have to watch adverts in return for free 3G Forget the name, I`ll try find it EDIT - http://www.neowin.ne...r-watching-ads/ If you know someone with a BT BB account who would let you use their BTOpenzone account you could connect to free APs if there is any around
TheLegendOfMart
Yeah I looked at Samba but you have to watch hundreds of ads just to get 500mb of data, I don't mind paying a reasonable amount but Three want ?70-80 for 12Gb of data. I looked at Three 'The One' plan which is ?25 a month on 30 day rolling contract for unlimited tethered data but they have traffic throttling from 3pm till 12am which is the only time I'm going to be able to use it when I finish work at 5pm. Three give free Skype and MSN access even with no credit (Last time I checked anyway), couple years back I was stuck with a dongle and was experimenting one day and found you could set Skypes IP address as a proxy and get 100% free internet even with no credit Worked for about a year, then they must have caught on because now it just redirects you to Skypes homepage I'm sure there is still a method there somewhere, IP over DNS using DD-WRT or something but haven't tried since getting a line in
