Is mse really that good?

Question

Was converted from Kaspersky about 1 year ago due to feeling like Kaspersky taking over my PC. MSE feels nice and light and free, and has never ever reported anything to me?ever!!, which could be a concern, or could be due to my internet habits changing. Anyway. Without notice, I see I have a few weird thingsgoing on within my browswer, I get coupon/voucher codes sliding up bottom right, and random adverts appearing in official pages (attached) likeBBCnews

So my question, is MSE really that good? Never seemed to have a problem with Kaspersky like this other than maybe PC performance. I thought MSE was great until this happened.

This isn?t a flame or anything just a genuine question.

Personally I think MSE is overrated, updates are in-frequent and I've seen several independent tests, AV-Test being the one I can remember off the top of my head http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/home-user/mayjun-2012/

That show it actually has very low levels of protection...I use it on my netbook simply cause its low on resource usage and a netbook doesn't have many resources to start with.

But I;d never use it on a normal PC/laptop with half decent specs or higher.

In reality the difference between MSE and the "winners" in those tests are actually so small they are irrelevant. And you're at the same risk or lack of risk of infection with either. The difference being that one costs money.

And MSE updates are daily+, as every other decent AV.

Every computer I've installed panda on seems to start generating various strange errors, from slowness to random errors to Internet working erratically. I've installed quite a few copies now, and this seems to happen n all of them, and ony on them. And if you have an iDevice, the USB immunizing thing is gonnamess you up.

I've had only one problem with Panda Cloud...Steam refuses to pause a download with it installed. Otherwise it's a wonderful av and I was tempted to pay for it. It's also got the least annoying firewall I've gotten my hands on, which is a bonus.

I never use the USB immunizing thing, fortunately.

If I had an internet connection decent enough I didn't have to pause my downloads I probably would pay for it.

Try running Spybot S&D or Malwarebytes just to check your system for anything that MSE might have missed.
