Multiple Job Interview etiquette

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Looking for some feedback on this and figured I would probably get a fast response.

Anyways

I just finished wrapping up a final interview with a company today, and am supposed to hear back Friday or Monday on that. However this job is not my priority job and will also require relocation.

I am also in the process of speaking to 2 other companies about future employment, one has mentioned they will be posting a job in the next week or 2, the other likely will not be posting online, but are very interested in bring someone on soon. Both of these are in town and more what I want to do with product design

My question is, do I let these other 2 companies know about these interviews now or when I find out? I know a lot of places want a response with in 48 hours, and am not sure I will be able to use an offer if I got one to persuade the other 2 companies within that timeframe.

Don't let them know at all. Why would you? :p

Why not? pull what I did, tell them with your skills being so in demand you are already being courted by other companies... sometimes it makes companies think humm maybe we should go after this one too and be more competative about it

You can't really tell an employer to hurry up and interview you, but it's probably worth bringing up in casual talk. Regardless if you get that one offer or not, it sounds like you don't want to do through with it, so I'd just turn it down if the offer comes in and actively pursue the other 2.

In my experience employers want you to sing the praises of their company, and they want you to really want to work for THEM. If you say that you've been to other interviews you could put them off, thinking it's just any job you're after.

Also, rather than try to get the other companies to hurry up and offer an interview, just take any job offered but still go to the other interviews, then quit your current job and take the better one if offered.
