greatpumpkin02
Don't know if there are many more fans of Elliott here, but I only found out this morning that he committed suicide on Tuesday morning. It's really sad, as he's helped me (and many others, I suspect) through some tougher times. At any rate, the situation warrants a listen to any Elliott Smith CD of your choice. I began my day with Figure 8. Feel free to share :) Jason

greatpumpkin02
Folkish, I'd say - comparisons to Nick Drake, Beatles, etc etc. Check out his XO album for some of his best work. He has a new album coming sometime "From a Basement on the Hill"...

greatpumpkin02
I literally cried this morning when I found out. And here the last couple of years I thought I had become too jaded... Figure 8 makes a few too many references to suicide for my liking (in retrospect)... I'm so happy, though, to have my signed concert poster/setlist, my picture of elliott all framed as the centerpiece of my music memorabilia collection...right next to Ben Folds, of course :)
BroChaos Veteran Posted October 24, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 24, 2003 someone pointed out that needle in the hay is the song that's playing in the royal tenenbaums when richie is trying to commit suicide....
