VazaGothic
Excluding SHoTTa35, every other person has said they use less than 100 minutes a month. Neowin, a community of socially awkward computer geeks. :p Or perhaps we do have a life :-) I spend on average 8 hours at work (where I usually chat with wife over Google Talk), then about 1-2 hours of commute via public transit (so it's either too loud or not convenient to talk- again, Google Talk there), then I'm home with wife and kids. I use my cell mostly for emails, and occasional talk with a recruiter, though I'd rather have them email me the details instead of wasting my time trying to offer me a job way below my minimum rate or outside my area. Anibal P
I'm pretty sure last month was the first time in the last 4 years that combined we went over 100 mins, and most of that was on hold waiting for Comcast
-T- Member Posted September 7, 2012 Member Share Posted September 7, 2012 Does America and Canada still have that weird thing where their incoming calls are counted as minutes of usage, or did that go out long ago?
tsupersonic
Does America and Canada still have that weird thing where their incoming calls are counted as minutes of usage, or did that go out long ago? That's still there. Also incoming text messages are counted towards your monthly allowance.
-T- Member Posted September 7, 2012 Member Share Posted September 7, 2012 That's still there. Also incoming text messages are counted towards your monthly allowance. That's so bizarre. I couldn't imagine that working either here or in Europe

That's still there. Also incoming text messages are counted towards your monthly allowance. Yes it's still there but the good thing is that we don't need to worry about it. My GFs Germany account has 120 minutes a MONTH and no SMS and like 200MB of Data for like 18 Euro. Sure yeah it's cheap the equivalent of 38 Euro and have UNLIMITED EVERYTHING*. So while incoming minutes count, they count against my UNLIMITED calls :D I'd much rather having that than say some super limited plan for cheap, what good is cheap if you can't even use the damn thing or gotta keep a close eye on everything. Before i had 900 minutes and was paying $140 for data and SMS anda ll that. SMS and Calls in Europe is crazy expensive for no reason because they know they can still rape you guys. :) That wasn't working here so they had to start offering better deals. javagreen
I can very easily manage in under 100 minutes a month for MOST months. There are just a few times when I talk to my girl and a few pals for 1-2 hours straight. Some months I've managed just 10 minutes of actual talk (bar incoming) in an entire month :o

-T- Member Posted September 8, 2012 Member Share Posted September 8, 2012 For someone like myself who's phone usage is mostly inbound, I have no need for unlimited minutes. I do have unlimited sms which of course only counts outgoing. I've something like $600 of call value but as I said I never make calls so that's irrelevant

+Xinok Subscriber² Posted September 8, 2012 Subscriber² Share Posted September 8, 2012 Sounds good to me, but I can't find anything about it on the T-Mobile website. http://prepaid-phone...onthly-4g-plans And a 99 cent SIM card :p http://prepaid-phone...-Activation-Kit Just a note, I was unable to activate anything online (it told me the activation code from the SIM card was invalid). I had to call tech support to have it activated, and it still took me a few days to access my profile online.
Phouchg
I know what a phone call should be - a brief exchange of vital information. And texting people (either clickityclicking their sticky keypads or struggling with the touchscreen) are only slightly less annoying than (often loud) chronic yabbers. I try not being one of either of those. I got 40 min/100 text plan for $4 (converted), haven't gone over it yet. Good thing data plan is separate from voice - data, on the other hand... WelshBluebird
I use a lot more than 100 minutes a month. Mainly because my girlfriend lives 110 miles from me during university holidays or 60 miles away from me during terms (and neither of us drive). So our phones are pretty important to our relationship. We could use skype more, but both of us would still end up using more than 100 miles. Mainer82
Yes, easily. I don't text nor do I have a smartphone. Most of the people I want to contact are close by or I can email them.
cacoe
If it weren't my free to giffgaff calls, I wouldn't be able to stay below 100 minutes per month
Nick H. Supervisor Posted September 10, 2012 Supervisor Share Posted September 10, 2012 I try and keep phone calls as short as possible, I think the longest conversations I have are with my Mum and even those I try and keep down to under 10 minutes. All other phone calls are usually done in less than a minute. When I consider that and the fact that I text and surf regularly, I'd probably consider that deal to be great. In fact, if I didn't have to phone Ireland in a few minutes I would probably switch my contract to something that resembles your Vodaphone plan more than my current contract.
