chrisj1968
the veterans affairs Hospital removed an additional foot of small intestine so now, I have lost a total 15 feet of small bowel and awaiting a 100% disability rating. 3 staples used to prevent my scar from getting large and disgusting. chrisj1968
the worst of it was, my wife was watching me in the ICU and i was wreathing like a baby does in a crib. she also said i was trying to remove my IV and other tubes. a week after I was released to go home, I was back in with a leaching of E. Coli under my fat layer and what an awful smell. they would lightly press on my abdomen and the puss just kept coming out. they kept me on antibiotics for a week. what an experience. BTW, This all started when I was in the Army back in june 1995, the stupid doctor took out my healthy appendix, then, 14 feet of small bowel died and was cut out later that month. then pain and ER/hospital stays then this. chrisj1968
it's closed and pink divots now. but the ENTIRE scar is one large indent. I have to use a cane now for balance. my scar hurts alot and I have to really for myself to stretch the scar out to stand up straight. trying to get well enough to try and get more photos taken. get my life going again. Also, this is embarrassing, I have to wear depends. when I go travel distances.

sialivi
Abdominal surgery is never fun. I've had 6 major surgeries so far (3 planned and 3 from acute complications) and another one planned this autumn. Had all of my large intestine and rectum removed and the small intestine constructed into a pelvic pouch. Lots of complications, including the small intestine twisting itself, internal prolapse, the inner walls of the small intestine growing together resulting in complete bowel obstructions (very painful) and the intestines growing together with the abdominal wall. This is still only considered a 15-30% disability so a 100% must be a real nightmare. I hope things improve for you Chris.
TCA
Damn that sucks man. It's gonna be painful for a while, I have to use a cane myself to help balance myself to keep my legs from giving out, due to physical probs with my knees and hip joints are starting to go bad. Not so bad having to wear depends be glad that they do make them.
