Sting DVD doesn't work ...help

Recommended Posts

I just recently bought a Sting DVD of all his latest music.

However, i can't seem to play it on my computer. I've tried WinDVD, PowerDVD and even WMP 9. All get errors....something to do with protection. I have spent alot of money on this DVD and now i can't even play it......this really is stupid.

oh...i even installed DVD Region Killer v2.7 to see if that would fix the probelm...but no luck.

Here is a screenshot of just one of the errors:

whats even more werid, is that i can play it and the sound works but there there is just a black screen...no picture....however i can take a screenshot and can see what i'm missing ...werid

Stop cloning/extending your video out to the TV, disconnect the TV out and should work.

Side note, what VS is that?

ok....i disabled the forced detection of the TV out port ...but i still get the same error

Where do i go....what do i select??

here is a screenshot ....

oh and the VS is Chaninja (blue)

This is a known problem with some Nvidia cards and newer drivers that have implemented Macrovision protection. I think you have to revert to Nvidia drivers series 40 or older. Simply happens with Nvidia cards that didn't have Macrovision protection physically built in (which is just about everything other than the most very recent models, as long as TV out was possible). Doesn't matter if you actually have a TV connected, etc. You cannot tweak settings, etc., to get around it.

Using DVDIdle / DVD Region-Free and telling it to override Macrovision protection will get you around this. Only other option is to use 40 series drivers or older (or get a more recent video card).
