nytiger73
I have applied for a new position with the company I currently work for. It's somewhat similar to what I am doing now. Anyway, I have an initial pre-interview with the recruiter this coming week. I only want to take this job if there is bump in pay. I don't want to waste anyone's time going through the interview process only to find out that it would only be a lateral move if the position is offered to me. My question to all of you is, do you feel it would be appropriate to ask the recruiter if compared to my current position there would be a bump in pay so as not to waste anyone's time? Or would it be better to just go through the process and see how thing turn out. I don't want to seem rude or ungrateful for the opportunity, but as I said, I don't want to waste anyone's time. Thanks in advance.
Rohdekill
Simply ask. Appropriate or not, recruiters (should) know the candidate's interests; salary as being the highest interest.
Sandor
I'd ask in advance myself. Any sensible recruiter will understand there is little point to you moving to a similar position for the same money really. There's no gain in it for you besides fresh scenery. If you're happy where you are say so and explain the deal.
